With Easter only a matter of days away, last minute plans to keep the children entertained over the the Easter weekend are a must.

Across Co Carlow there are plenty of Easter themed events for all the family and also some famous Co Carlow sites to encourage your family to get out and about this bank holiday weekend.

These are our top five things to do in Carlow for you and your family to enjoy this Easter weekend.

Chocolate Garden of Ireland

Where better to celebrate the Easter Bank Holiday weekend then at the Chocolate Garden of Ireland in Tullow, Co Carlow.

This Easter and also throughout the year, the Chocolate Garden of Ireland host an array of chocolate themed events.

From the chocolate mould making experience to a chocolate workshop and even an afternoon tea, there are plenty of options on offer to suit the whole family.

Rathwood

Rathwood in Tullow Co Carlow has gone all out this year for Easter.

They are still taking bookings for the Rathwood Easter Train which brings you on a Easter themed train ride around Rathwood to the Rathwood Big Top where you will watch a musical panto, followed by Easter egg hunt in their Maze of Ireland.

Tickets start from €15.95 per person, with the event running until April 1.

Altamont Gardens

As the days start to get a bit brighter and the sun starts to make an appearance, Altamont Gardens is the perfect place for you and your family to get outdoors this Easter.

Located near Tullow in Co Carlow, Altamont is known as one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland.

Take your family on a riverside walk or visit the walled garden or an old arboretum.

There is also a café onsite in the form of quaint tea garden.

Huntington Castle and Gardens

If you want to get your children outside and immersed in nature this Easter why not check out the Woodland Adventure Playground at Huntington Castle and Gardens in Clonegal, Co Carlow.

From February to April, Huntington Castle and gardens are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am until 5pm.

Although there are a number of things to do and see at Huntington Castle such as checking out the castle and its gardens, the playground is the perfect place for the kids to burn off some chocolate fuelled energy.

The Woodland Adventure Playground is the perfect place for adventure and features an obstacle course, play huts, swings and much more.

Delta Sensory Gardens and Café

In keeping with the outdoor theme, Delta Sensory Gardens on the edge of Carlow Town has been described as an “oasis of peace and tranquillity”.

Sitting on 2.5 acres are a series of different types of gardens to intrigue the senses such as a games garden, a series of waterfalls and a roof garden.

There is also a café on site if the littles ones get hungry.
