Powerscourt Distillery has launched the second annual Spirit of Wicklow Awards 2024, to honour individuals and groups who embody the spirit of the county across various sectors, including business, arts, sports, culture, sustainability and community initiatives.

The launch event at the Powerscourt Distillery on Thursday, April 25, reunited last year's winners, who were accompanied by a panel of judges, setting the stage for another celebration of Wicklow's brightest stars.

Reflecting on the impact of last year's champions, such as Re-Wild Wicklow, Lakers Social & Recreational Club, Schoolhouse for Art and Wicklow Wolf, Powerscourt Distillery said it remains inspired by their exceptional contributions to the community, which symbolise the true ‘Spirit of Wicklow’.

The four categories for the awards are the Spirit of Wicklow Community Award, Spirit of Wicklow Sustainability Award, Spirit of Wicklow Arts/Sports/Culture Award and Spirit of Wicklow Enterprise and Innovation Award.

The winners of each category will receive an award, which is crafted from Wicklow Oak and represents the deep-rooted ties to the distillery’s county. Additionally, recipients will be given a hamper of Wicklow's finest produce, featuring the award-winning Fercullen Whiskey, along with a selection of local produce.

The winner embodying the ‘Extraordinary Spirit of Wicklow’ will be treated to the Ultimate Powerscourt Experience package, coupled with a €2,000 donation to support their local enterprise.

To nominate your champions, go to powerscourtdistillery.com before May 31. Nominees (individual or group/business) must be either Wicklow-resident or working with a Wicklow-based entity.

The Spirit of Wicklow award was introduced last year to celebrate the founding of the distillery in 2018.
