1. The Mistry family

Drama: Cyrus Mistry

With wealth estimated at a combined €13.8bn, the Indo-Irish Mistry family has once again topped the Sunday Independent Rich List. Headed by the reclusive 90-year-old Pallonji Mistry, who holds an Irish passport, the family’s wealth is such that despite a €2.3bn drop, the Mistrys are still at number one, largely due to the family’s valuable stake in Tata Sons, India’s largest conglomerate.

Pallonji gave up his Indian passport in 2003, becoming an Irish citizen, based on his marriage to Dublin-born Patsy Perin Dubash. Patsy was born in September 1939 in Hatch Street Nursing Home. Their children, Cyrus, Shapoor, Aloo and Laila, also hold Irish citizenship.
