The roads in an Enniscorthy housing estate are being “pulverised” by vehicles bringing building supplies to a nearby development according to one local councillor. Speaking at the April meeting of the municipal district, Councillor John O’Rourke said this was just one example of roads being ripped up by builders.

“A lot of it is happening in areas where developments are ongoing, is there a way of getting some clawback (from the developers) for those repairs as they are using these roads as a run to these sites?” he asked.

"At Rectory Heights, where the development is going on at the school, the road is being pulverised by the amount of traffic going up and down it. There must be some clawback on this.”

Cllr Aidan Browne’s concerns extended to the majority of estates in the town, many of which he said were in a “state of disrepair”.

“It’d be easier to name the ones that don’t need works than the ones that do,” he added.
