Andrew Collins

Michael (64), the eldest son of the late Dublin hotelier PV Doyle, sold most of his stake in the family hotel business for about €29m in 1995, later netting another €22m from the rest of his shares. He has recently been linked to a controversial development plan for 34 apartments along the Brennanstown Road in Cabinteely, Dublin. That scheme received planning permission last November following an appeal. Doyle missed out on something of a pay day last year when his brother David sold his father’s old family home, Thornhill House in Mount Merrion, for about €8.3m. Reports said that David had bought the property from his siblings for €2m in 2012.

Serial investor Collins (50) was Sarah Newman’s partner at Needahotel, which was bought for €60m in 2006. He also made around €20m from 123.ie. The Dubliner is a significant investor at electricity business, PrePay Power, which saw turnover jump to €152m in 2018 from €121m a year previously, although profit before tax fell from €10.7m to €8.3m. He is married to former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Luisa Zissman and the family live in a beautiful home in the English countryside north of London.
