Martin Keane

One of very few builders who survived the 2008 crash, low-key businessman Frank Fahy’s Shannon Homes is back building again, in both north and south Dublin, and Co Louth.

The firm maintained a strong balance sheet during the boom, and built swathes of apartments and houses around the Dublin commuter belt. However, it went unlimited — meaning it doesn’t file public accounts — in 2016, having had €47m in cash and €158m in shareholders’ funds. It’s likely his wealth has increased since then. He lives in a Meath mansion and breeds horses.
